Privacy Policy

Nosh (“Nosh”, “we”, “us”) helps a group of people pick a restaurant together. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Nosh is operated by an individual developer; you can reach us at hello@n0sh.io.
What we collect
If you use Nosh without signing in, we create a random anonymous ID and store it in your browser. It isn’t linked to your name, email, or any real-world identity.
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. We use these to recognize you across devices and to show your name to the people in your Nosh.
As you use the app, we store: the cuisines, price range, and “open now” preference you pick on the preferences form; how you rank the restaurants on your shortlist (or the single pick, for a solo Nosh); the area you type in and the party size, date, and time you choose for a reservation; any “how was it?” rating you give after a meal; and which Nosh sessions you were part of.
Automatically, our hosting providers log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability.
What we don’t collect
- We don’t use your device’s precise GPS location. We only use the location text you type (e.g. “Hayes Valley, San Francisco”).
- We don’t collect payment information. Nosh never takes payments.
- We don’t access your contacts, photos, or files.
How we use it
- To run the app — syncing everyone’s preferences and rankings in a session in real time, showing names, and landing the group on a restaurant.
- To build your taste profile — an aggregate of what you’ve picked and ranked, used to suggest restaurants and improve recommendations over time.
- To improve Nosh — understanding, in aggregate, whether our restaurant picks land well.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising or share it with advertisers.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to operate Nosh:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and real-time sync. This is where your account and activity are stored.
- Vercel — hosting for the Nosh website.
- Google — “Sign in with Google”, and the Google Places API we use to look up restaurants.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms. When you tap “Reserve on OpenTable” or a restaurant’s website, you leave Nosh and are subject to that site’s privacy practices, not ours.
Data retention and deletion
We keep session data while a Nosh is active and for a period afterward for analytics and profile-building. If you signed in, you can delete your account and its data yourself, immediately, from your profile — or email hello@n0sh.io and we’ll do it for you within 30 days. Data that can’t be tied back to you may be retained in aggregate.
Your choices
- Use Nosh anonymously — just don’t sign in.
- Sign out at any time from the home page.
- Delete your account and data yourself from your profile, or by emailing us.
Children
Nosh isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app.
